Every explorer needs a compass.

And every business needs a name. Name ideas are everywhere. But how do you know which ones work best for your brand? Random brainstorming and endless searches lead to:

• Decision fatigue
• Second-guessing every option
• Growing lists of "maybe" names
• Asking around and getting mixed results
• That nagging feeling that the perfect name is still out there

The secret to finding the ideal  brand or product name isn't generating more ideas: it’s having a clear strategy to evaluate them, first.

We've helped brands solve their toughest naming challenges, and time and again, one thing is clear: That the best way to get names that shape your brand’s future is by having a strategy, or roadmap, first.

Every project begins with strategy.

Oh, strategy. That word is overused, vague, and something all brand people say you need. But what does it really mean? Consider it a starting point. Whether you call it strategy or not...the following must-be-done before any project begins.

It's taking a look at your values, vision, background, and raison d’etre, and using that to create a plan for naming that's best for your brand or product.

Naming straight from the go without a clear and thorough strategy (on paper!) almost always leads to disappointment, and subsequently, Rounds 2, 3, 4…and all the side-effects listed above. No one has time for that, and no one is happy. A strategy prevents this from the start.

Exploring the world of words.

Naming is all about exploration. That’s the beauty of it, truly. Having a strategy is like an intergalactic flight plan for exploring the universe of words. 🚀

Blasting off into hysperspace…it’s disorientating. Quite frightening, actually. Constant ideating without direction only adds to the chaos, and leaves you spinning. A clear direction that aligns your name with your brand's true potential is what gets you to confidence in your brand, which can help you show up in the world with conviction.

If your current name isn’t working, it’s time to revisit the strategy. And that’s exactly what the Naming Clarity Workshop is designed to do. It’s perfect for founders and teams who need clarity, direction, and a path forward.

"The paragraphs in the Naming Roadmap are spot-on. I couldn't have said it better myself."
- Igor R., Founder

What you'll get:

Naming Roadmap in hand, you’ll have:

• Strategic alignment: A clear framework that ensures we're on the right track to naming well.

• Decision confidence: A way to quickly evaluate name choices, compare, and defend name options

• Directional name ideas: Several name directions* that tie to the strategy, helping you gain a clear understanding of what's working and what's not.

• Prompts and thought-starters to unlock your teams own creativity and can kickstart the name ideas, if you wish

Sometimes, the actual name itself. Yes, it can happen. Either way, you leave with the clarity and momentum to move forward, and get unstuck with naming.

*Directional name ideas are not screened for risk. Trademark pre-screening is part of phase II and comprehensive trademark screening is always recommended before moving forward with any name.

How it works:

• Step 1: Book a Naming Clarity Workshop date. This is a time you select to meet after you've received your tailored Roadmap.
• Step 2: Complete payment and contract terms.
• Step 3: Fill out the questionnaire. This fast-tracks the process and keeps us moving.
• Step 4: On the day of our meeting, you'll receive your Roadmap and Name Ideas. Our call will give us the chance to review, fine tune, and troubleshoot any questions, and review next steps.

If you'd like to combine this with the full naming process, reach out for more details.

What should I have beforehand?

• This process is built for brands who have a solid vision of what they are or who they're becoming. To gain real value from the process, a bit of groundwork is required:
  • Complete the brand questionnaire (available after booking.) This is designed as a comprehensive intake that will get us on the right path. It could take anywhere from 20-45 minutes, or longer, and will be a lot easier if you've already completed your brand strategy.
  • Have a brand strategy already in place, or in active development. See below.

Who is this for?

• Zeppelin Naming Consultancy works with teams who are committed to elevating their brand,  have a vision, and find themselves stuck with the naming process.
• We've worked with all of the following for naming projects:
  • Agencies
  • Founders
  • In-house marketing teams
  • Enterprise leaders
  • Startups Series A and up

Is brand strategy required?

• Creative work is truly most effective when there's a clear strategy behind it. A vision and a "why" and that's in line with the brand's values and future outlook.

Will we get *the* name right away?

• Sometimes. Cubic Squared did. Importantly, you'll walk away with a set of directions that bring clarity to your approach.

Is there anything else we should know before getting started?

• No. Bring an open mind and any questions, and we'll get the engines revving to prepare for your unique naming journey.
